Most of the time, if you run into plumbing problems, you need to bring in the professionals. It will save you time and money, all while providing peace of mind, when you know the job is done right the first time. However, there are a handful of plumbing basics you can perform at home. They are easy to do and doesn’t take much experience to deliver. By following through with these individual plumbing basics, you can avoid major problems further down the line. Plunging the Toilet

You should always have a plunger on hand. Toilet clogs are common (especially if you have a curious toddler who enjoys flushing everything). The plunger creates a vacuum inside the toilet, and the pumping action you create by manually pushing the plunger up and down can clean out a clog.

The Garbage Disposal

A garbage disposal is an important appliance in the kitchen, yet if you do not treat it correctly, it can back up the entire system. A clogged disposal may push back into the dish washer or sink. Due to this, you need to avoid tossing anything small into the disposal. It includes coffee grinds and egg shells. If the garbage disposal is clogged, do not reach in or stick anything inside. Instead, mix baking soda with warm water until you make a thick, almost paste-like substance. Pour it in and follow this up with a cup of vinegar. The two mixed will bubble up and makes an excellent cleaning solvent that drains safe. Should this not clear out the clog you’ll want to contact a plumber.

Avoid the Chemical Cleaners

Chemical cleaners are easy to use. However, these can damage your plumbing (especially metal plumbing). If you have a major blocked pipe, you need to contact Airco Service Inc.

Plumbing problems can manifest seemingly out of nowhere, yet if you don’t take care of these issues right away, they can develop into something far more substantial.
