Energy Efficient Home Improvements Can Happen All Year | Save Money!

piggy bank

During the winter months one of the things you invariably begin to notice are all the seemingly invisible and unexplained things which wind up costing you money. Making energy efficient home improvements is one really smart way to combat these invisible costs. But just because you may notice them in the colder months, that doesn’t mean you can’t make energy efficient home improvements work for you all year long! Here are some simple things that you can do anytime to make year round energy efficiency your new normal.

  • Heating: If your home’s energy source isn’t working as efficiently as possible, it’s going to wind up costing you plenty. Even if your home’s heating source is relatively new, less than 5 years old, it makes sense to have it checked out to ensure that you are getting the most value for your heating dollar.
  • Cooling: On the flip side of things your cooling mechanisms also need to be operating in tip top shape. If you have corroded or dirty air filters that is not a good thing for keeping your home at the temperature you want in the summer months. Worse yet, many people live with outdated, overtaxed machinery which winds up costing them so much money year after year.
  • Insulation: Probably the biggest non-mechanical way that heat and cooling seeps out is through poor insulation. Upgrading your insulation alongside the maintenance or replacement of your outdated machinery is the best way to kick your energy efficient home improvements into high gear.
  • Ducts: The air ducts in your home are what carries the heat and the cool air into and out from your living spaces. Having clean, insulated, and well maintained ductwork is essential to your energy efficient home improvement efforts.  If you don’t know where to turn for good ductwork, one good place to go is to the folks selling you those new heating and cooling units.

There are many smart ways to make sure your home is operating in an energy efficient manner. Use these tips to make sure your home and your family have all the comfort they deserve.  You’ve earned it!
