What is the purpose of a GFCI outlet?
In certain situations a traditional breaker is not sufficient where moisture is present. Where a traditional breaker will have a delay before tripping, the GFCI will trip instantly when the circuit comes into contact with water. GFCI outlets are required by law within 6 feet of where moisture has the potential to be present.
